LEAVES

Along the Promenade des Petits Ponts in Chevreuse, in the softness of the autumn lights, GRATALOUP will be attracted by the reflection of the fallen leaves on the surface of the water of the Yvette. He will take a series of photos that will give birth to the series of "Leaves".

All the techniques and materials, dear to the artist, are used in these works: the sand, which gives on some canvases of the relief to the leaves, the aplats of acrylic enhanced with gold leaf or silver.

The multiplicity of canvases composing diptychs and/or triptychs thus expresses the idea of the flight of time and/or the various moments of a day or a season.

"Autumn has its treasures. Leaves are a part of it. Their colours seem to be the most beautiful with their unique chromatism. They give their last bursts before dying as an ultimate gift to the painter. The leaf falling into the river that could be the Styx to join the island of the dead."
