OBJECTS & INSTALLATIONS
“My objects are my paintings in 3D.”
— GRATALOUP
For GRATALOUP, the object is an extension of painting into space. He transposes the forms, materials and symbols found throughout his paintings, giving them volume and physical presence.
These creations take on a wide variety of forms and scales, ranging from autonomous objects to large installations designed to inhabit a space and enter into dialogue with its architecture.
Among them, The Prophet’s Tent, installed on a bed of sand, holds a particularly important place. It featured in several major GRATALOUP exhibitions, including at the Chapelle de la Pitié-Salpêtrière in Paris, the Chapelle de la Trinité, and his major retrospective in Germany.
