Musée GRATALOUP
Opened in March 2022 in the Prieuré Saint-Saturnin, in the historic heart of the Chevreuse Valley (Yvelines), Musée GRATALOUP was created to introduce visitors to the painter’s work in a place deeply connected to his history.
Over five years, the museum presented thematic exhibitions devoted to GRATALOUP’s work, in dialogue with invited contemporary artists.
The exhibitions combined paintings, exhibition design and interpretive experiences. Bilingual podcasts for adults and children, videos, sound creations and sound-and-light installations beneath the chapel vaults offered different ways to discover and understand the works.
The museum garden also hosted works by invited artists, extending the dialogue between GRATALOUP’s work and contemporary art.
Musée GRATALOUP also developed educational programmes and activities for families, school groups and a wide range of audiences, with the aim of making contemporary art accessible to as many people as possible.
From 2022 to 2026, Musée GRATALOUP thus served as a place for presenting, interpreting and transmitting GRATALOUP’s work in Chevreuse, while also welcoming other artists and developing new ways for audiences to engage with art.
Musée GRATALOUP remains open to the public until November 11, 2026. It will not be transferred or relocated.
