Created in 2011, alongside the stained-glass windows for the Saint-Saturnin Priory in Chevreuse, the series The Angel’s Wings explores the relationship between matter, light and spirituality.

Through rich textures, luminous contrasts and a varied palette of colours, GRATALOUP evokes the presence of an angel without ever depicting it directly. The wing becomes a sign, a symbolic form suggested by the reliefs, lines and movements within the composition.

Between abstraction and symbolism, these works extend the artist’s exploration of light and transcendence, in close dialogue with his work in stained glass.
