From June 10 to June 30, 2019, the Stuarts Gallery in Novi Sad, Serbia, hosted Glimmers, a solo exhibition by GRATALOUP organized at the initiative of his friend Nebo, a long-time admirer and supporter of his work.

For this exhibition, the artist brought together a selection of works centered on a theme that runs throughout his entire artistic journey: light. Present from his earliest explorations, light constitutes one of the foundations of his visual language and one of the defining threads of his oeuvre.

Through a selection of paintings created during different periods of his career, GRATALOUP explored the many manifestations of light: the natural light of landscapes, the symbolic light found in spiritual narratives, and the inner light that inhabits both beings and things. At times radiant and dazzling, at others subtle and elusive, light becomes a subject in its own right, transforming colors, revealing forms, and opening the work to a contemplative dimension.

The exhibition also offered Serbian audiences the opportunity to discover the originality of GRATALOUP’s artistic vision. Often described as a “New Symbolist,” he developed a unique language capable of linking the realities of the visible world with deeper reflections on existence, time, and spirituality.

Presented during a period when Novi Sad was actively preparing for its future role as a European Capital of Culture, Glimmers testified to the international reach of GRATALOUP’s work and to the growing interest it inspired beyond France. It remains one of the last major international exhibitions organized during the artist’s lifetime.
