CANNES FESTIVAL - MARTINEZ HOTEL

May 10, 2000 – May 21, 2000

NES FILM FESTIVAL – HÔTEL MARTINEZ
On the occasion of the 2000 Cannes Film Festival, GRATALOUP was invited by renowned gallerist and publisher Enrico Navarra to present a selection of his works on the rooftop terrace of the iconic Hôtel Martinez. Set against the backdrop of one of the world's most prestigious cultural events, the exhibition featured around ten paintings from the artist’s Women-Flowers series.

Developed at the intersection of the human figure and the vegetal world, this series explores themes of transformation, femininity, and the vitality of life. Female silhouettes emerge from luxuriant compositions where flowers, colours, and richly textured materials intertwine to create images that are at once sensual, poetic, and symbolic. True to his artistic vision, GRATALOUP moves beyond representation to reveal the deep connections between humanity and nature.

Present throughout the exhibition and accompanied by Milena, the artist shared this distinctive universe with visitors, collectors, and personalities from the worlds of art and cinema. The Cannes presentation marked an important moment in his career, reflecting his growing international visibility and his close collaboration with Enrico Navarra, who would play a significant role in promoting and disseminating his work during the early 2000s.
