PAINTER
PAPER ARTWORKS
Paper is intrinsically linked to GRATALOUP.
As a young child in Nantua, in the printing press where his father worked, he was fascinated by the falling of paper on the ground. He collected them carefully and drew for hours the large black fir trees that surrounded the apartment where he lived with his parents.
At school where he excelled, his notebooks proved to be true artist notebooks, where he recorded, in drawings, the courses given to him.
Drawing on the motif on the paper is the source of his creation.
The painter’s workshops are filled with drawings, sometimes quickly chalked in front of a nature that caught his gaze, sometimes reworked in watercolor and then covered with gold leaf.
The canvases of GRATALOUP, it is still paper, maroled this time.
Paper is the story of his life. Still today, in his large studio in Chevreuse, GRATALOUP continues his drawing.
