1991 - SYMBOLIC LANDSCAPES

It is undoubtedly this experience of approaching death in the mountains that will inspire the artist for the series of Great Symbolic Landscapes.

It will take up the graphics of the seracs and the crevasse, which can be clearly seen through the canvases of the series, but will add a strong symbolic impact by the graphics of the faults, the use of gold and the rays of light.

The matrix, covered with gold leaf, is one of the masterpieces of this series and of his work more generally. It is regularly exhibited in the artist’s major exhibitions.

"The storm is not far away… All these canvases have a fault in the centre of the landscape. This is an obligatory passage for mountaineers, in order to go from the dark side towards the golden light, as the symbol of the Mystery in the Middle Ages."
