2007 - 2008 NANTUA

For GRATALOUP, Nantua, its lake and its mountains are a constant source of inspiration and wonder.

The two recent exhibitions at La Maroquinerie as part of the Grataloup Foundation project (2005 and 2006) allowed him to reconnect with the beauty of a landscape that he will transcribe in a new series, Nantua.

It is mainly composed of large-format canvases worked with acrylic for the water movements of the lake, with metals and sand for the cliffs overlooking it, presenting the realities of the lake with its day or night symbolism and its chromatic variations.

"The limestone mountain of Nantua in its graphic reality, the lake in its timeless poetics, the search for a random vision of the hidden spirit of the place, isn’t that the truth of a world and/or that of its symbolism?"
