2007 - GAUBE LAKE

After the canvases of Nantua, it is with an intact fascination for the lakes that GRATALOUP will undertake the series of Gaube Lake.

It is composed of large-scale works representing the lake surrounded by its vegetation, its altitude and the mountains that surround it, thus giving meaning to an assertive pictorial research.

It is a series consisting of only five canvases, several of which are currently in particular collections.

"This is Gaube Lake, which I discovered during a trip to Lourdes, in the Pyrenees. This lake brought together all the elements that have nourished my pictorial form for a long time: the mountain – with or without snow – the lake, the vegetation, the trees, the sky, which made it possible to liberate the drama of the subject, with the "Experience of the spirit in matter", or, more serene, the «Lac au Dormeur», and «Neige de Printemps».
