2007 - 2009 SWIMMING POOL II
Swimming pools fascinate Grataloup. Perhaps they are a metaphor
of the surface of the canvas? Transparencies, reflections, planes through which the motif must be seen?
It is a theme already declined during his pictorial research (series Swimming Pools, 1988). It is following the construction of a swimming pool in the garden of his house-workshop in Chevreuse that he will undertake, in 2008, a new series on this theme.
"With swimming pools, it was necessary to try to apprehend pictorial the infinite changes of forms, colors, light matter… The metaphorical and/or symbolic uses of swimming pool water, if changing, pre-empt the whole. Tense canvases are for me cut pieces in the shows of a mysterious world."
