2004 - 2014 PETRA
Still very inspired by deserts, the artist will undertake, in 2004, a series devoted to the city of Petra (Jordan) that he discovers through the photos of a book that we have just given him. He never went to Petra himself.
Impressed by the gigantic ochre cliffs and the royal tombs of the Nabataean rulers, carved on the mountainside more than 2,000 years ago, the series offers mainly triptychs, where tiny points of matter and flat sand surround tombs covered with gold or silver intertwine.
This series, considered «dark» by many collectors, has been little exhibited. It is in a way a «secret and personal» creation closing his coma experience of 2002, which could have also led him to the tomb.
"With Petra, I return to the deserts, this time signifying the flight of time that carries everything with him. The tombs disperse, break, become dust and disappear despite all the efforts of men."
